B.C., Alberta, and PEI Open Doors: Skilled Workers Snag PNP Invitations!

British Columbia, Alberta, and Prince Edward Island have made significant strides in their immigration efforts by extending invitations to apply (ITAs) through their respective Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) for candidates in various in-demand occupations.
The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) and the Alberta PNP—formerly known as the Alberta Advantage Immigrant Program (AAIP)—are among the largest PNPs in Canada. These programs offer immigration pathways for experienced entrepreneurs, skilled workers, international graduates, and other newcomers, both within and outside their provinces.
Provincial Immigration Results: February 10th—16th
British Columbia
During the previous week, the BCPNP issued invitations through its Skilled Worker and International Graduate streams, including the Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC) option. The province extended at least 200 ITAs to skilled workers and international graduates across five priority sectors:
- Childcare—requiring a minimum score of 60
- Construction—requiring a minimum score of 75
- Healthcare—requiring a minimum score of 60
- Tech—requiring a minimum score of 108
- Veterinary care—requiring a minimum score of 60
Alberta
On February 6th, Alberta issued 44 Notifications of Interest (NOIs)—equivalent to ITAs under the AAIP—to candidates with professional healthcare experience through the Dedicated Healthcare Pathway with an Alberta job offer. The minimum cut-off score for receiving an ITA was 302.
Prince Edward Island
PEI issued 121 Expressions of Interest (EOIs) to Labour and Express Entry candidates in the PEI PNP. Candidates were considered if they were working for a PEI employer and had a minimum EOI score of 65. Over the past 12 months, the province has invited 2,307 candidates, with 2,253 Expressions of Interest going to Labour and Express Entry candidates, and 54 going to Business Work Permit Entrepreneurs.

While PNPs may prioritize candidates with connections to the province, they also have streams for in-demand professions aligned with their labour market needs. Tailoring professional experience to match these needs can significantly increase one's chances of receiving an invitation.
By 2025, PNPs are projected to surpass Express Entry as Canada's primary pathway for immigration, underscoring their critical role in the country's economic strategy.
