If a Chartered Accountants ANZ (CA ANZ) skills assessment is on your migration roadmap, here's a small but real reason to stop scrolling: the fees are about to climb. Not by much — but in skilled migration, timing is everything, and there's a clean window to lock in today's rates before they disappear.
What's changing?
From 1 July 2026, CA ANZ is lifting its Migration Skills Assessment fees by an average of roughly 2%, in line with recent CPI movements. In plain numbers, that's a $5 increase per item across the board.
The good news? Applications received before 1 July 2026 are charged at current rates. Apply in time, and the increase simply doesn't touch you.
The new fee table (current vs from 1 July 2026)
Assessment type | Current (AUD) | From 1 July 2026 (AUD) | Processing time |
Qualification only — Standard | $560 | $565 | 10 business days |
Qualification only — Express | $660 | $665 | 5 business days |
Skilled employment only — Standard* | $260 | $265 | 15 business days |
Skilled employment only — Express* | $360 | $365 | 10 business days |
Combined (Qualification + Skilled employment) | $620 | $625 | 20 business days |
Reassessment (one component) | $180 | $185 | 10 business days |
Reassessment (both components) | $360 | $365 | 15 business days |
Internal review (one component) | $180 | $185 | 10 business days |
Internal review (both components) | $360 | $365 | 15 business days |
External appeal (one component) | $180 | $185 | 10 business days |
External appeal (both components) | $360 | $365 | 15 business days |
Withdrawal request (admin fee) | $90 | $95 | 2 business days |
*Skilled employment assessment is only available once you've received a suitable qualification assessment outcome from CA ANZ.
Already a CA ANZ full member? You're in luck — full members don't pay the migration skills assessment fee at all. If you're eligible, your invoice simply shows $0.
In a hurry? Urgent processing is on the table
CA ANZ may fast-track your application if you can show one of the following:
Your visa expires within 20 business days
You've received a formal invitation from the Department of Home Affairs or a state/territory government with a deadline
You're approaching the age limit for visa eligibility
To request it, you'll need to provide evidence from the Department of Home Affairs and explain why you couldn't apply earlier. Meet the conditions, and there's no extra fee for the priority treatment.
A quick note on timelines: CA ANZ reviews every application within 10 business days of submission just to check it's complete. Missing documents are the number-one cause of delays — so a tidy, complete file isn't just good practice, it's speed.
The takeaway
A $5-per-item rise won't break the bank. But the smarter play is what the change signals: get your documentation right and your application in early. Beat the 1 July 2026 cut-off and you pay today's rates with zero downside.
