IRCC invites 3,000 Canadian Experience Class candidates in June 12 Express Entry draw

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) resumed large-scale draws for the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) this week, issuing 3,000 invitations to apply (ITAs) for permanent residence through Express Entry on 12 June 2025.

This is the fourth Express Entry round in June and the first CEC-specific invitation since 13 May. It also marks the first draw overseen by Canada’s new Immigration Minister, signalling a return to the larger CEC selections that characterised much of 2024.

Express Entry performance in 2025 to-date

IRCC has now issued 38,342 ITAs across 21 rounds in 2025. The year has been dominated by program-specific invitations, with Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws continuing to lead the count.

Why the CEC matters

Canada’s federal and provincial governments view the CEC as a “made-in-Canada” talent pipeline. Research by IRCC and Statistics Canada consistently finds that skilled workers who have already studied or worked in the country adapt more quickly and achieve higher earnings than newcomers without Canadian experience.

CRS advantage: CEC candidates receive additional points for qualifying Canadian work experience, boosting their likelihood of selection.
Speed: Once invited, most CEC applicants obtain permanent residence in around six months via IRCC’s standard Express Entry processing.
No settlement-funds requirement: Unlike Federal Skilled Worker or Federal Skilled Trades candidates, CEC applicants do not have to prove settlement funds, reducing paperwork and financial hurdles.

What happens next?

CEC invitees now have 60 days to submit a complete electronic application for permanent residence. IRCC will continue to alternate between program-specific and category-based draws throughout the summer as it works toward the 2025 admissions targets set in Canada’s Immigration Levels Plan.

Candidates already in the Express Entry pool—especially those with Canadian work experience—are encouraged to maintain up-to-date profiles and monitor CRS distribution reports for future opportunities.
