As June 2025 draws to a close, the stage is set for a massive shift in Australia’s migration landscape starting 1 July. Whether you’re a skilled worker, an international student, or an employer looking to sponsor talent, there’s a lot you need to know — and WeAbide® is here to break it down for you.

Here’s what you shouldn’t miss:

Visa Fee Hikes IncomingFrom 1 July, visa application fees are going up across the board. Student visa fees are tipped to rise sharply from $1,600 to $2,000, pending official confirmation. If you’re still weighing up your options, act now to avoid higher costs.

Salary Thresholds Rising for Employer-Sponsored VisasEmployer sponsors will soon face higher minimum salary benchmarks:

  • CSIT & TSMIT will rise to $76,515

  • SSIT will rise to $141,210If you’re sponsoring — or being sponsored — on a 482, 186, or 494 visa, make sure your pay aligns with the new rules.

Fresh Allocations for 189, 190, and 491 VisasThe federal government is expected to refresh nomination allocations in July. Once released, states will reopen their systems, usually between July and October. Victoria, Queensland, SA, NSW, Tasmania, NT — all closed right now — will soon be back in action. If you’re waiting, now is the time to sharpen your skills assessment and boost your English scores to stay ahead.

June Visa Successes at WeAbide®

Our clients celebrated approvals across these visa streams in June:

  • Employer-sponsored 482 visa

  • Employer-sponsored 186 visa

  • 494 DAMA visa

  • Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional) 191 visa

  • Adoption visa

Congratulations to everyone achieving their migration dreams with us.

482 Visa Trends – Applications Up, Refusals Up Too

Applications for 482 visas jumped by 41% over last year — a sign of strong demand. But refusals are rising too, often because positions are judged “not genuine” (think tiny cafés sponsoring a full-time chef).

Stay tuned: WeAbide® will post a new YouTube video on avoiding 482 visa refusals.

Processing times have been patchy — check out our video for the latest tips on staying stress-free while you wait.

DAMA Pathway Gaining Momentum

Regional migration under DAMA agreements is booming. South Australian DAMA applications tripled over the past year, with employers enjoying:

  • More occupation choices

  • Age and salary concessions

  • Easier English requirements

If you’re exploring regional opportunities, DAMA might be your golden ticket.

National Innovation Visa (NIV) Kicks Off

This subclass 858 visa rewards international talent with permanent residency.

  • South Australia: Already open with criteria including current employment, SA job offers, and a government support letter. A panel interview awaits shortlisted applicants. Note: hospitality, consulting, franchises, and similar investments are excluded.

  • New South Wales: Focusing on high-growth, scalable ventures with a 7-stage EOI, including expert endorsements.

Curious if you qualify? Try WeAbide®’s free NIV assessment to get started.
