Alberta is ramping up its efforts to attract skilled workers in 2025. In the span of just one week, the province conducted three major immigration draws under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP), inviting 1,324 candidates to apply for provincial nomination — including professionals in tech, construction, and other in-demand sectors.
One of these draws, held on October 1, 2025, marked Alberta’s second-largest draw of the year.
Summary of Recent Alberta Immigration Draws
Between October 1 and October 7, 2025, Alberta issued Invitations to Apply (ITAs) under three streams:
Date | Stream | Invitations | Cut-off Score |
October 7, 2025 | Alberta Express Entry Stream – Priority Sectors (Construction) | 91 | 60 |
October 3, 2025 | Alberta Express Entry Stream – Accelerated Tech Pathway | 230 | 52 |
October 1, 2025 | Alberta Opportunity Stream | 1,003 | 61 |
As seen in recent trends, the Alberta Opportunity Stream once again accounted for the largest number of invitations.
Alberta’s Growing Immigration Opportunities in 2025
So far this year, Alberta has conducted:
6 draws under the Priority Sectors (Construction) stream
7 draws under the Accelerated Tech Pathway
10 draws under the Alberta Opportunity Stream
Each stream targets different candidate profiles:
Alberta Opportunity Stream: Designed for temporary foreign workers already employed full-time in Alberta with a qualifying job offer from an eligible employer.
Accelerated Tech Pathway (Express Entry): Tailored for skilled tech professionals working in Alberta or with a valid job offer in an eligible tech occupation.
Priority Sectors – Construction (Express Entry): For professionals listing an eligible construction occupation as their primary occupation in Express Entry, and who may have a job offer in Alberta.
Note: Candidates applying under the Express Entry–aligned streams must still meet the federal Express Entry requirements.
More Nomination Spaces Open for 2025
On September 9, 2025, Alberta received 1,528 additional nomination spots under the AAIP, boosting its total allocation for the year from 4,875 to 6,403.
This expansion strengthens Alberta’s capacity to address labour shortages and support its growing economy — particularly in key industries such as construction, technology, health care, and tourism.

Whether you’re a tech professional, construction specialist, health care worker, or temporary foreign worker already contributing to Alberta’s economy, there are multiple immigration pathways that could lead to Canadian permanent residence.
As the province continues to align its immigration strategies with labour market demands, 2025 presents a prime opportunity for skilled professionals worldwide to build a future in Alberta.
