Newfoundland and Labrador is ramping up its immigration efforts, issuing its largest number of NLPNP invitations in over four months during this week’s provincial draw.
The province extended 330 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) across the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP)—a significant move as it pushes to meet growing labour market needs ahead of a major federal increase in immigration targets for 2026.
Biggest NLPNP Draw Since July
The Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism (OIM) distributed the 330 ITAs in a 2:1 ratio, with most candidates—220 of them—invited through the NLPNP.The remaining 110 invitations went to AIP candidates.
This marks:
The highest NLPNP invitation count since July 10, 2025, and
The strongest AIP draw since September 26, 2025.
Although the NLPNP does not reveal which specific streams the invitations fall under, this latest draw underscores the province’s sustained push to attract skilled workers.
2025 Immigration Numbers So Far
Newfoundland and Labrador has been steadily inviting newcomers throughout 2025. To date, the province has issued:
Program | Invitations in 2025 |
NLPNP | 2,473 |
AIP | 990 |
These numbers closely approach the province’s 2025 nomination allocation of 2,525, which includes:
2,050 spaces for NLPNP
475 spaces for AIP
Crucially, invitations are not the same as nominations. Candidates must still apply and be approved, and not all invited applicants complete the process. This gives the province flexibility to issue more ITAs than nomination spots without surpassing federal limits.
Notably, Newfoundland and Labrador originally received only 1,050 NLPNP nomination spaces, but successfully negotiated an additional 1,050, doubling its capacity.
Bigger Changes Coming in 2026
The momentum is expected to continue next year. The federal government has announced a massive increase in Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) admissions—from 55,000 in 2025 to 91,500 in 2026, a 66% surge.
With this expansion, Newfoundland and Labrador is widely expected to receive more nomination spaces in 2026, potentially opening the door to another record year for provincial immigration.
However, exact allocations for each province and territory have yet to be released.
