South Australia Opens Over 2,000 Skilled Migration Places for 2025–26

South Australia has unveiled its General Skilled Migration allocation for 2025–26, announcing more than 2,000 places now available for skilled professionals eager to build their future in the state.

The Australian Government has confirmed the following allocations for South Australia:

• 1,350 nomination places for Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190)

• 900 nomination places for Skilled Work Regional Visa (Subclass 491)
  

With the program now active, Registrations of Interest (ROI) are officially open for skilled migrants living and working in South Australia. This marks a significant opportunity for onshore applicants seeking permanent residency pathways through state nomination.

In a welcome move for overseas talent, offshore applicants do not need to submit an ROI. Instead, they will be invited directly based on their Expression of Interest (EOI) submitted through SkillSelect — making the process smoother and more direct for skilled workers abroad.

DAMA Update: Important Changes for Employers

The Department of Home Affairs has also released updates regarding Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA) variations:

• DAMA variations are now limited to one variation per year of a labour agreement.

• No variation requests will be accepted within the first six months of a newly executed agreement.
  

Businesses are advised to plan ahead to ensure their workforce needs can be met within these updated constraints.
