Big news for healthcare and social services workers: Canada just issued 4,000 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) under the Express Entry—Healthcare & Social Services category.

This is the largest healthcare-focused round of 2025 so far—and the cut-off score dropped compared to earlier healthcare draws this year.

Who was invited

To be considered, candidates needed:

A CRS score of 475 or higher; and
An Express Entry profile submitted before March 13, 2025 at 1:08 p.m. UTC; and
At least six months of full-time, continuous work experience in an eligible healthcare or social services occupation (work may be inside or outside Canada).

Why this matters

More invitations, lower CRS: A bigger round often means a friendlier cut-off. If you’re close to the 470s, you’re in the competitive zone for category-based healthcare draws.
Category-based selection is working: It creates a pathway for strong candidates even if their CRS is under 500, provided they meet the occupation criteria.

What to do if you’re in healthcare

1) Confirm your NOC. Make sure your job title and duties match an eligible healthcare or social services occupation.2) Build a strong profile. Get your ECA, language test results, and complete your Express Entry profile.3) Track your CRS. If you’re near the 470–480 band, you may be competitive for upcoming healthcare rounds.4) Consider PNPs. Provincial nominations add +600 points to your CRS—often the fastest route to an ITA.5) Keep your profile current. New experience, higher language scores, or added education can raise your CRS.
