Victoria’s 2025–26 Skilled Migration Program Now Open

Great news for skilled professionals! Victoria has officially opened its 2025–26 Skilled Migration Program, welcoming applicants from both within Victoria and overseas.

This program offers skilled workers the chance to build their careers in one of Australia’s most dynamic states – with pathways to permanent residency.

Program Highlights

The Australian Government has given Victoria a small interim allocation for now, with the full number of places to be confirmed soon:

Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190)	200	Permanent visa to live and work anywhere in Victoria
Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491)	180	Provisional 5-year visa, with a pathway to permanent residency after 3 years of living and working in regional Victoria

More places are expected once the Department of Home Affairs finalises the complete allocation.

Who Can Apply?

Victoria is seeking skilled professionals from a wide range of industries. Both new applicants and those with an active Registration of Interest (ROI) are eligible.

✅ If you already submitted an ROI in 2024–25, it will remain valid for this program year.

✅ You only need to submit a new ROI if your details have changed.

✅ New applicants can apply under the subclass 190 or subclass 491 visa pathways.

How to Apply for Victorian Nomination

Applying is a step-by-step process:

Check your eligibilityMake sure you meet the requirements for the visa you’re applying for.
Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI)Create or update your EOI through the Australian Government’s SkillSelect system.
Submit a Registration of Interest (ROI)Use your EOI number to create an account on the Live in Melbourne portal and lodge your ROI.
Wait for an invitationIf selected, you’ll be invited to submit a nomination application.
Apply for your visaOnce nominated by Victoria, you can submit your visa application through the Department of Home Affairs.
