Yukon to Grant Additional Nominations for Permanent Residence

The Yukon government has received 67 additional nomination spaces for the Yukon Nominee Program (YNP) in 2025. This increases the territory’s total number of allocations to 282, up from the original 215 it was given earlier this year.
The announcement was made on August 21, 2025. Yukon’s original allocation was reduced after the federal government cut overall PNP (Provincial Nominee Program) spaces by 50%. The territory has been actively requesting more spots to help local employers meet labour needs.
80 New Invitations to Be Issued in August
Because of previously issued Invitations to Apply (ITAs), carry-over applications from 2024, and 13 withdrawals, Yukon now has 80 new invitations to send out this month.
Earlier this year, the YNP switched to an Expression of Interest (EOI) system. Employers submitted more than 500 applications between March 31 and April 22, 2025. Almost 400 of these submissions matched Yukon’s key priorities, such as:
Candidates with at least one year of Yukon work experience
Graduates from Yukon post-secondary institutions
Francophone (French-speaking) candidates
Those with a Temporary Measure Letter of Support, allowing them to get a special Yukon work permit
Invitations Already Issued in 2025
So far in 2025, the YNP has processed 54 carry-over applications from 2024 and issued 153 ITAs in May, including:
19 Temporary Measure Letter of Support recipients (2024 applications)
54 Temporary Measure Letter of Support recipients (2025 applications)
78 applicants under priorities like Francophone immigration or Yukon graduates
2 healthcare professionals
After 13 ITAs were withdrawn, 80 spots remain for new invitations. The program has also reserved 10 nomination spaces for healthcare workers until September 20, 2025.
About the Yukon Nominee Program (YNP)
The YNP allows Yukon to nominate foreign nationals for permanent residence if they have a full-time, permanent job offer from a qualified employer in the territory.
It includes four main streams:
Critical Impact Worker (TEER 4 and 5 jobs)
Skilled Worker (TEER 0, 1, 2, 3 jobs)
Express Entry
Yukon Community Pilot Program (now closed)
Employers first submit an EOI. If selected, they receive an ITA and can then apply to nominate a candidate. Once approved, the candidate signs a Tri-Partite Agreement with Yukon and can apply for Canadian permanent residence through IRCC within six months.
Yukon also offers the Business Nominee Program for entrepreneurs who want to establish and run businesses in the territory.
With these new spaces, Yukon employers will have more opportunities to bring in skilled workers, while eligible candidates will have additional pathways to settle permanently in the territory.
