Training visa (subclass 407): summary

The 407 is for structured training or professional development in an Australian workplace, not for filling a job. An approved temporary activities sponsor must have the training nomination approved before you apply. From 12 November 2026 you must be outside Australia both when you apply and when the visa is granted.

The process in brief: Organisation becomes a sponsor → Sponsor lodges the training nomination → Prepare documents and health checks → Apply online from outside Australia → Wait for the decision → Train in Australia.
