LMIA-based employer-specific work permit (Temporary Foreign Worker Program): summary

For Canadian employers who cannot fill a job locally and need a foreign worker. The employer first gets a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) from Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC). The worker then applies to IRCC for a work permit tied to that employer. The offered wage decides the stream and most of the rules.

The process in brief: Check the stream and wage → Advertise and recruit in Canada → Apply for the LMIA → Send the LMIA to the worker → Worker applies for the work permit → Arrive and start work.

Full guide above: requirements, costs, step-by-step process and FAQs, checked against official government sources.
