The B-1 visa covers short business trips such as meetings, conventions and contract negotiations. Most applicants complete the DS-160, pay a $185 fee and attend an in-person interview. Citizens of Visa Waiver Program countries can usually use an ESTA instead for trips of 90 days or less.
