Australia Opens the Floodgates: 10,000 Skilled Visas Issued in June 2026 SkillSelect Round
By Vikrant Singh, June 23, 2026

Australia's Department of Home Affairs has fired the starting gun on the final SkillSelect invitation round of the 2025–26 program year — and it's a big one. On 4 June 2026, a massive 10,000 invitations were issued under the Skilled Independent visa (Subclass 189), bringing the program year's total to 26,887 invitations for the 189 visa alone.
For skilled migrants who have been sitting on their Expressions of Interest (EOIs), this round could be the one they've been waiting for.
What Happened in the June Round?
The June round matched the scale of the November 2025 round — both issuing 10,000 invitations — making it one of the largest single rounds in recent memory. The tie-break date landed at April 24, 2026, meaning only candidates who reached their points score before that date were considered ahead of others with equal scores.
Notably, the Subclass 491 Family Sponsored stream saw no invitations issued in June, having last issued 300 in November 2025.
